Georgia farmer fined $5K for growing too many veggies | Food Freedom

What ever is the country coming to!  Difficult to believe this is real.  Will have to do more reading of the back story.

  1. "Please don't read into it, he is going to court over this because of zoning issues, not the still yet to be completely passed S510. The government acted on their initial case within the legal time frame, just as Joe Citizen has. Statute of Limitations weren't violated, he has 2 acres of farmed land? Does one person really need that much for themselves. The bill isn't going after joe citizen the farmer, only the big ones that provide to markets and restaurants. Whenthe whole Ecoli outbreak happened earlier this year everyone got pissed the government wasn't watching enough. He is also being fined for the number of workers he has there also, and sure he doesn't pay any taxes for them as well.
I do agree on some of the parts of the bill, but the whole idea of having a separate arm of the FDA to over see and control that area is going to be a big issue maker in on itself. If Mr. Miller sells at a farmers market, does anyone know if he pays the taxes on the income he generates from it? I'm sure it doesn't happen.
Me personally, I think Mr. Miller is only facing local ordinance, imagine the IRS, immigration, and every other government office that could coming in and doing what they don't do best." --V.K. (originally posted on a different page)

  2. From B.F. (originally posted on a different page) -- "This case was started locally and does not directly involve S10...but this is what will eventually happen. The county this man resides in said he was growing to much. I say WTF? Free enterprise???? This old boy gave away and sold at Farmers Market his extra, no harm, no foul...in my eyes...but the gooberment obviously did not get their share, and are going after him."
